Weird and wonderful Sci-fi games. Mark clearly in brackets after which console it is for, if it is a pc game, do not bother.

Okay, so i downloaded the keygen and the no DVD crack and then used winrar to extract the iso, added a crack director and then used Folder2ISO to make back up an iso with the crack on. Much more handy than all that faffing around with virtual cds and clones. You can get the crack at the usual places, megagames.com or gamecopyworld.com

This is an awesome, awesome First Person Shooter. Far more effective than Doom 3 ever was. Genuinely creeply, well designed, and very fun. For avid gamers there's comparisons with Doom3 in the way it pulls out some scares, which if your into the game, are effective in making you jump. There's also bits from Max Payne, both in terms of the dream sequences and also in terms of gameplay with bullet time (which is a very intensive visual treat here).

People talk about games with "ai" all the time, when its just simple scripting, but this game has some very effective scripting whcih make the opponents a bit more challenging. Action is very quick, and they won't give you a break which is why the bullet time is there, and its needed. You can kill one guy with reflex action, but if there's a group you need the bullet time.

Very intense on the computer though, the are lots of gibs, particle effects and scenary that explodes. On top of that are some hefty physics. IMO those hefty specs mentioned above just won't cut it. You need a lot of ram and a big powerful cpu to handle the physics (otherwise it will be stripped right down) and a far better graphics card. I've got a decent enough setup to play most games @ 1600x1200 but I have to play this right down at 1024x768, with medium physics to keep my framerate up. Then again, i always insist on having full screen AA.. i don't tolerate jaggies.

My criticism of the game, and i'm in the process of playing through, is that the story isn't as cinematic as i'd hope. There's short cut scenes, and bits of in game plot and background discovery, but imo its inadequet. This all leads to a slight sense of detatchement and the levels run together with no sense of progression. I would have really loved for them to go all out and work on this a lot more, adding more plot revelation. HL2 is an obvious example of superb plot development and a rather complex, for gaming, storyline. Here I feel its just lacking. The premise is excellent though, there's a bit of scifi in there but this is out and out horror, in action first person shooter form. This game definitely deserves a mention. You can see that the horror influence is more japanese bioweaponry in nature. Despite this you can still cobble together what's happening, but it comes off a tad too mindless (well as far as i've played to anyway).

You face human like opponents, and as far as satisfying to kill goes, I put them a peg or so beneath duke nuke'ms throat holding aliens (if you know which bad guys they are, you'll know what that means). This comes from the design, and the way that hits register very well, and they are quite challenging as far as the scale of FPS go.

Play it in pitch darkness and make sure you calibrate your pc. Its more effective with a decent graphics card, and all the settings as high as possible. 5.1 surround would be an advantage.

Here's some screenshots that should give you a sense of the game:
