"Director Pavel Klushantsev, who has been referred to by George Lucas and Stanley Kubrick as a godfather and teacher, changed the face of cinema. After graduating from the Leningrad Institute of Photography and Photo Technology in 1930, he worked as a cameraman for four years at Belgoskino. In 1934 he moved to Lenfilm Studios, where he would master the art of direction. One of the first directors to combine popular science and science fiction, Klushantsev has left an indelible mark on science fiction films all over the world. His techniques for filming the cosmos were decades ahead of those of his contemporaries. Famously, Klushantsev passed away in 1999 forgotten, blind and living in poverty." - SeaGullFilms.com

If you're unfamiliar with the works of Pavel Klushantsev, I suggest you start with the documentary The Star Dreamer. It's the only clip here that has English audio (with some English subs), and feature a look into his personal life and professional career. It also has crisp clips from all of his science fiction material (...moreso than the actual material linked to in this list). Note though, that with the exeption of Planet of Storms, all of his films are speculative science documentaries, NOT feature films.

With the exception of Planet of Storms & The Star Dreamer, NONE of these clips feature English audio or subs. They're all in Russian.

Are there any Russian speakers out there who's willing to contribute subtitles to any of these? - Please PM me.

Why do some dvd players show too dark a picture and others too light? My mother's plays really dark and mine bleaches out the colors. Can this be fixed? It's not the television because it plays fine without the dvd player going.
