THE PIPELINE
Under the Caspian Sea lies one of the largest untapped energy reserves on the planet. It's estimated that 200 billion barrels of oil are there. First discovered by the Soviets, today everybody wants a share.

THE OIL CURSE
The discovery of oil is usually celebrated as a one-way ticket to wealth and economic growth. Oil companies are now scouring the earth to uncover new sources in some of the world's poorest countries.

WILDERNESS
Since the Middle East has become a political tinderbox, the West has had to look inside its own borders to meet its growing demand for oil. But areas that are politically safe seem to be environmentally sensitive. The last few pristine landscapes in North America may soon be opened up to oil investors and environmentalists are horrified.
