Postby banjo on Sat Mar 04, 2006 2:11 am

Guys.. did you get a copy of TV Guide magazine? My brother purchased it and I found a coupon of BSG's free downloadable episode. This is really a great day for me! Did you get one?

it's an itunes ep. they're for sale on itunes. there's a coupon in tvguide for a free episode download. nothing special atm.

March 2, 2006:
This week's issue of TV Guide includes a code that you can redeem for a free iTunes download of the critically acclaimed Battlestar Galactica episode "Downloaded."

ah so theres the drawback

1. iTunes is for retards with no moral sense of what the internet is all about, the kind of people who buy 8meg broadband to "chat on msn" and "download a couple of mp3s once in a while"

2. Itunes you have to buy the paper, so your spending some money there, unless your having sex with a paperboy in which case dont cum on his face or the print will run and you cant read him on the toilet later

3. a combination of the last 2 implaying sex with a downloadable paper retard who uses 8meg broadband to dl toilet porn to listen to later on

4. what are we talking about again?

being either

1) in the uk

or

2) watching edited eps from the us broadcast(s)

you'll have missed all the commercials for downloading podcasts that discuss each ep (live?) after the show with the writers/producers and also the heavy push they were making this week for the tv guide thing where they tell you that you can purchase episodes at itunes.com, and in "this week's tv guide, there's a coupon for a free download." so it's pretty much the epitome of 21st century american capitalism atm.

maybe i'd pay pennies for download if i could download all the remaining episodes in better quality now (following american schedules for shows is annoying, what with how retarded they are)... i'm sure the rip quality of bsg is getting worse

erm...unless you wanna do a binge/marathon-type of thing like wolfman with 24, I'm pretty sure that the US broadcast premiere of each ep occurs before the ep becomes legally available online.

which is my point in that post, and which is why i won't ever pay for it in this way.

maybe i would pay for downloading them, if i could download the episodes now, irrespective of what is deemed the schedule for american tv. The fact that the american tv schedule is completely irrelevant and they get zero advertising revenue in other countries means its pointless waiting.

I have no problems with 'binge' sessions  I did it with B5 and farscape, i prefer as a consumer that i have total control over what i watch and when i watch it.

This is the problem with the entertainment business, they still feel it necessary to control distribution and are frightened of letting go. The sooner they realise that branding releases with an advertising sponsor ie instead of that big ugly scifi logo, there's a big ugly cola logo or whatever and then allowing release can bring in more revenue than sitting on the episodes and making no money from international internet release, the better.

So binge session health warning aside, I would consider paying for the show, if i was getting what i wanted in return.

Branding the episode is of no problem, it would probably be better quality than the rips we get now, and then they don't loose potentional dvd revenue.

Opportunity lost.

@dinky i think you were being mindfucked by your latest dawsons creek/roswell marathon

@spud it all seems to me theyir worry of letting go is on the same level as middle age men who refuse to let go the fact that they dont have the thick hair they once did, or refuse to admit leather trousers just dont cut it when you've got a fat beer gut hanging over the top  , maybe thats whose running the tv industry
