I installed it today.
Previous versie I had installed was 0.30b, so it had been a while
now I see I am connected to ed2k but not to Kad
all my files are hashed but they dont seem to be connecting to users.
What can be the deal with this?

Well after a longer time than usual it connects... but very very slowly (VERY SLOWLY)
I clicked on the arrival this morning and it still says it has 1/2 users
perhaps I'm not patient enough. But I know my emule, we are going back some years now

i installed official and it went same speed as always 40-120kb-ish download, 17-22kb up. Problem is that the upload isn't controllable enough for releasing and it treats everything much fairer. So the official is a good client for leeching/downloading if you don't have a upload on the go.
