The ninth passenger in alien...

Postby d0c on Mon Apr 19, 2004 6:14 pm

Almost a quarter of a century after it’s birth, the legendary and terrifying Alien Saga has been digitally re-mastered and reborn as a 9-disc limited edition. I have finally purchased the whola thing and made it through all the content of the Alien Quadrilogy box set now. It's taken me a long time, what with having two versions of every movie, a commentary on every movie, and an extremely comprehensive set of extras, 5 dual layered discs of extras is one heck of a lot of material i can tell you that. The extras included in this set are interesting, and a lot more honest than usual. It is refreshing to hear people talking openly about conflict on the set, and about reasons why things did not go as they did. If you don't have any of the Alien movies, and want them, I recommend getting this set, i just love it :) Even if there's one movie you don't want, get the whole set. These films are intended to stand as a whole....

finally

Hell yes, I've had mine since launch ;) For shame d0c. The best improvement is seen in the Alien3:Extended Cut in my honest opinion, in so far that the film is much better with the added scenes.

Extended editions of all films are up on http://www.dead-donkey.com movie sections anyways :)

Yes the new alien 3 was a good one with the added scene's. The extra material for the first alien movie was also the best to watch of the extra stuff. What about moving them aliens links here to sci-fi donkey?

Alien is a horror film primarily, I'm sticking to my guns on that and can just phone up Ridley for support if need be

I was referring to the mainpage where the theatricals are posted, so moving isn't needed:

yes, the alien director's cut/original was much better. I didn't think it was possible but the extended cut of A4 was even worse :o That Earth ending was utterly terrible, its the worst thing I could possibly think of besides, perhaps, letting Paul whatever Anderson make an alien vs predator film. The rest of the extended/changed sequences were just plain jizz.

Yes the director's cut is way better than that extended crap. I had hopes that the extended version might be able to sort the mess of a film out but well, it was worse.

Shame since the extended version of alien3 was excellent and very welcomed.
