At The Earth's Core

PLOT DESCRIPTION:
A Victorian scientist and his young American backer set off in their new earth-boring machine with a short test on a Welsh mountain. Unfortunately the thing is rather more powerful than expected and they end up in an enormous cavern at the centre of the earth. Here they find a race of humans enslaved to evil oversized prehistoric birds with extra-sensory abilities. The travelers decide they can be some help, the more so as at least one of the slaves is very eye-catching.

RELEASE NOTES:
The original DVD transfer is a bit grainy and out of focus in parts (probably due to the 'El Cheapo 3 DVD release') ... therefore it reflects on this release ... feels more authentic without filtering the actual rip though ...

EXTRAS:
As an Extra I have included scans of the 3 DVDs Artwork & the Collector's Cards (6 off) that came with the Triple DVD Edition ...

Also right at the end of the movie there is the original trailer ... :D

Enjoy ... GemInI

After Spud's comment on the resolution (of The Land That Time Forgot) I can see the point made but I have already done the 3 DVDs in the 640 width :wacky: ...

80 pixels won't make that much difference when watched on the TV ... the reason why I chose that resolution is because it seems to be common on group releases ... not only that there's loads on a lower resolution ... and that's the newer movies ... there's no comments made on them so I thought that was ok ... also I haven't got round to sussing out GK (manual) yet ... if someone would like to walk me through ripping a movie with GK then I'll do releases with that ... until then I'm with AutoGK ... :D

We all haven't got HDTV yet so I'm coping for the masses ... HDTV: the biggest ripoff since garlic bread ...

I mentioned that arbritarily selecting a template encoding setting isn't the most favourable way of maximising quality and when the bits are available that maximising the resolution will achieve a better result that shrinking the resolution.

viewtopic.php?t=2585

80 pixels would matter, you'd have a better looking picture. Not that it might look bad now, my point is, better is better and its very easy to do. Move the resolution slider a bit :)

the reason why I chose that resolution is because it seems to be common on group releases

I'm not quite sure i understand that. ARF is a violation of the group release standards (ie. its a nuke since it exceeds their specs), the point is to make rips better than the limited TDX specification allows. If your going to increase the filesize beyond the limited specs and not bother splitting, then why would you adhere to the resolution limitation imposed?

As for the gknot comments, Doom9 has detailed step by step guides to it. Why would you need another guide?

I'm pretty sure you can force autogknot to increase the resolution too, i would suggest reading up on a guide if you want to make better quality rips, shouldn't take more than 5 mins.

ps. Thanks for the rip :)

You can do it in autogknot.

Its covered in the autogknot guide... check it out (look at Advanced Options):
http://www.autogk.me.uk/modules.php?name=TutorialEN

You just click "Advanced Options", then type 704 or 720 in the box, depending on the matting (if you got matting around the left and right, your probably going to be going for 704, if its anamorphic, 720... but don't zoom the source). Use the preview box to check :)

edit: hey look, there's even hidden options regarding ivtc... didn't know about those  Still no avs support though :(
