In the future's newest, most bloodthirsty reality show, SURVIVAL ISLAND 2020, 10 contestants on a remote desert island compete for a 50-million-dollar prize. What they don't know is they'll be joined by a race of cold-blooded zombie super-soldiers. It's SURVIVOR meets NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD as these leftovers from a failed government experiment hunt down the hapless contestants. To defeat the zombie horde they must take command of all their strength and skill. The ultimate prize is staying alive.

There's a much better ripping rip here:
http://forum.dead-donkey.com/viewtopic.php?t=14416
Looks sharper and doesn't pixelate on motion.

I think the problem could be you've used divx which is a crappy codec next to current xvid builds, but mostly your resolution is too high for the bpp you have, and with the addition of AC3 you can see the picture is breaking up.

What is odd here is that for a mere 77min movie it makes no sense that it looks like that and the filesize is messed up. You should be able to achieve much better rips with your chosen stats. There is one explaination though, your only doing test encodes (1 passes) instead of a full quality rip (at least two passes). Are you definitely doing 2 pass encodes? If you weren't ripping a full 2 pass that can explain the random filesizes your getting, and why it looks so blocky. A 1 pass encode is likened to a complete guess, divx and xvid only use it as a quick guess at bit allocation, whereas a second pass is needed to actually do the encode properally. This could explain all the problems your having with your rips, and why some of them are coming out at random filesize and poorer quality than they should be. Random filesizes and poor qulaity rips are exactly the symptom of a 1pass, since its essentially only half a rip. Your not meant to keep 1pass, its thrown away by your codec when you do a 2pass encode since its only temporary information. In a simplified way, this is then compared to the source again and used to better allocate data to where its needed in your second pass.

Dr Divx is really doing a crap job for all these great movies you have, its a crying shame that its not doing your movies justice. Have you looked at gknot or autogknot, it would help your rips infinitely. :)

If your having problems with gknot, you could send me a remote desktop invite or something like that so you can watch me do an encode on your pc? Although it might be tricky with the lag. Just a thought anyway if your not sure about gknot :) Or start a thread in smalltalk and we can all help you get it setup properally.
