they are used to index files posted to newsgroups.
so you can click and download the choosen files without having to search in the groups by hand.

you need access to usenet and a nzb compatable newsreader like grabit and it opens the nzb and downloads the files.

more nzb info here;
http://www.slyck.com/ng.php?page=9

more usenet info here;
==>> http://www.666fs.com/viewtopic.php?t=3605

read my basic guide - a copy of the guide in my WWW mirrors too
like it says the software is bit old now but concept is the same,
Try the grabit for windows software, it's free

ed2k: ed2k: HOW.TO.get.music.from.Usenet.(alt.binaries).incl.tutorial.and.Win.software.zip  [7.65 Mb] [Stats]
torrent: HOW.TO.get.music.from.Usenet.(alt.binaries).incl.tutorial.and.Win.software.zip

not everyone gets usenet free from their isp but I know some people here do have acess so I have been posting them. try and see if you get it already.

if so, then enjoy your new found toy :beerchug:

IC.... People have been telling me about newsgroups for downloading for years, but I have never really used them apart from technical q&a stuff.. never for downloading.

yeah ok, thats the same thing but you want the groups with the binary attachments.

You can read lots of the text groups on the internet as normal webpages too but if you used your own isp to access newsgroups and have it set up at the moment then you can just check in the newsreader you are using already and see if your isp caches the alt.binaries groups. Check it out for sure, !! 8) .. then you can leech new stuff straight of the servers instead of having to wait for p2p.

I wrote some stuff on the 666 thread above, have a read of that for more notes.

Good luck !!

yeah, but usenet posts are often incomplete - download the partials and use the pars to fix 'em.

heres a thread about that
>> http://control-alt-delete.ca/v-web/bull ... php?t=6956

but true, most isps retention is 2-6 days so you will have to be quick if you use them. In the large groups stuff get flooded out fast, but is almost always crossposted so try looking in (for example) alt.binaries.hdtv instead of alt.binaries.multimedia
-Paid servers no worries, they have 30-90 days on the binary groups.

Smart ISP's will offer this service, I DL >60gigs a month straight off my ISP's server. I would otherwise be using BT or ed2k for this traffic. My ISP is quite slow but I can open 3 connections at a time so it's useable as long as I don't try to get big things that have been there for more than a few days already. (it used to allow 10 connections at a time each one ~1MB :P )
You can always use BT or ed2k to finish them off too if you get left missing pieces. ed2k: ftp2donkey-v1.1.zip  [11.4 Kb] [Stats]

mostly they are for people who what to grab it themselves as soon as it comes thru, otherwise use the ed2k links - slower but more reliable in the long term.
(and if you get the new stuff off usenet you can help share on ed2k ... hint, hint, wink,wink)

not always !!!!!!!!!! call yr isp . My isp hooks it the fuck up as far as access to most binaries go!!!!!!! news.veri :D zon.net !!!!!!! doc try an find an isp provider in yr area that provides it with yr internet service fee you may not have to pay extra I DONT. look around yr local. or learn how to use brute an force an hack yr way in to a server www.accessdiver.com *most news servers allow multiple connections* so once yr in its not like a porn pass thats gonna die in a few days if yr smart about it! news.ve :D rizon.net allows me like 8 connections ay once... I grab between 325-360 kbs on avg I get 700mb in like 25 min. Id call around to differ providers if I were you an at least inquire. Some nights Im up to like 420kb/s. its insane!!! here is a list of groups my server provides ftp://ftp.isc.org/usenet/CONFIG/active an my retention is i think like 12 days but it could be 10 now.. I dont know i stay pretty current an havent had to retreive headers in a while

here are the best nzbsites imho... in order
1. (by far but sometimes buggy) http://www.binsearch.info/groups.php
2. http://nzbsrus.com (registration required)
3. http://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/forumdisplay.php?f=80 (registration required)
4 http://alt.binaries.nl/
5. http://www.ijsklontje.nl/forums/index.p ... nguageid=1 (my porn hook up registration required)
6. they say this ones cool to but i dont need it much http://www.snarf-it.org/ but i guess it has torrents too. I like mininova an the piratebay for them

I check that first one several times a day an the second 2 at leat once or twice. the 4th one is nice to fall back on if the first one starts actin buggy but they only do a few groups. the porn forum provieds nzbs to more than just a.b.ijsklontje which is a group i cant always grab from or ever retreive headers from. sometimes if somone posts to a.b. ijsklontje they cross post to a.b erotica or a.b.erotica.divix, youl notice this info in the post. I usually like to grab avi when after porn but it depends on the tittle ....which that forun has pleanty of, they break it down by like dvdr, (s)vcd, xvid/divx, clips, & pic sets/site rips

an then theres this other site that greenphantom links too http://www.mvgroup.org/forums/index.php? that serve ed2k's an nzbs for like educational shit... I check that once in a while too cause i like docs

but theres also been sites popping up for like individual binary groups like http://www.abmdivx.com/index.php which isnt very populated. ab.ftn had a forum I belonged to but i lost acess to that group an the group they cross posted to a.b.boneless http://www.ftnforum.nl/ ... an I saw an a.b.startrek form last night but I didnt notice any nzb's. I wasnt there long but there was a requst part of the forum i noticed ... im grabbing all eps from TNG. first I grabed the ed2ks from here but those eps kinda sucked now Im getting the Ac3 rips from FH....

an heres a FTD# an NZB search that comes in handy sometimes if you do get on a.b.ftn or boneless or a.b.nl
http://nfo.ftd.nu/
http://nzb.on-drugz.net/

fuck NzbZone.com their registration is full an make you pay like newzbin.

heres some threads to read about nzb for other peoples expierances an where i started to figure out what they were

Its HDTV mate, 1080i=1920x1080 native resolution @ 38.81Mbps... takes it toll. I'll take that MPEG2 then make a 4.32GB MPEG4 out of it :)
OAR = Original Aspect Ratio

If you could help me out with some missing rars i'd be extremely grateful but i dunno if its gonna work... i need 519 more blocks which is a fair few. I got like 1 or 2 blocks missing from a lot of the files. :outsider:

Annoying :lol:

I got the hdtv, I subscribed to 3 days of usenetserver.com @ $3 and leeched what i needed. Shame isps don't offer more in the way of newsgroups over here, would reduce traffic to their local servers which saves them a lot of money.

thanks for bobby for his offers of help :beerchug:
