The Matrix

Postby hagbard on Tue Dec 14, 2004 4:59 pm

In the near future, a computer hacker named Neo discovers that all life on Earth may be nothing more than an elaborate illusion created by a malevolent cyber-intelligence, for the purpose of placating us while our life essence is "farmed" to fuel the Matrix's campaign of domination in the "real" world. He joins like-minded Rebel warriors Morpheus and Trinity in their struggle to overthrow the Matrix.

IMDB

Computer hacker Thomas Anderson has lived a relatively ordinary life--in what he thinks is the year 1999--until he is contacted by the enigmatic Morpheus who leads him into the real world. In reality, it is 200 years later, and the world has been laid waste and taken over by advanced artificial intelligence machines. The computers have created a false version of 20th-century life--the "Matrix"--to keep the human slaves satisfied, while the AI machines draw power from the humans. Anderson (Neo), pursued constantly by "Agents" (computers who take on human form and infiltrate the Matrix), is hailed as "The One" who will lead the humans to overthrow the machines and reclaim the Earth.

It is a dark time for the world. Neo is trapped in the "Train Station", between the Matrix and the Source. Zion is doomed to be crushed under an unstoppable army of countless Sentinels. But it is not only the human race that is in peril. The machines press ever onward against the humans, unaware that one force within the Matrix has slowly been growing, and has taken over that world completely: Smith. There is only one hope for both races, the one force that can stop Smith, and that is Neo. One final battle must ensue. And the outcome of this battle will decide the fate and future of both races.

Just as a little addition to the Matrix collection ... here is the comic THE INVISIBLES. Widly known as a direct influence on the Matrix Series. So much so that DC comis is as of 2006 still involved in a law suit.

The Invisibles @ Wikipeida wrote:The "Invisibles" of the title are individuals who battle against physical and psychic oppression using time travel, magic, martial arts, meditation and guns.

The comic focuses on one cell of Invisibles. At the beginning of the series, the leader of the cell is King Mob, a character based on author Grant Morrison. The rest of the team consists of Lord Fanny, a Brazilian shaman and transvestite; Boy, a former member of the New York Police Department; Ragged Robin, a telepathic time-traveller, and Jack Frost, a young hooligan from Liverpool with various spiritual powers. Their enemies are the archons of the Outer Church, interdimensional alien gods who have already enslaved most of the human race. The title deals with the battle between both groups and their attempts to save or control the world.
