Wonder Woman Back in Limbo

Joss Whedon is out as writer/director:

By Borys Kit and Tatiana Siegel

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Joss Whedon, who had been developing a big-screen adaptation of DC Comics superhero Wonder Woman for Warner Bros. Pictures and Silver Pictures, parted ways with the studio and production company on the project.

Whedon announced the news on Friday on a fansite, chalking it up to creative differences. "I had a take on the film that, well, nobody liked," he wrote on www.whedonesque.com. Studio and agency sources confirmed the development.

Good everything i haveread about his vision of the comic is so crap. Wonder Woman would rule if done correctly but I do not think anyone will. The books are all about greek god, her arch nemisis is the God Hadies for example. The move looks like another .. hero in a city fights crim with a creation thing on it... The movie should be like the book all Gods and Mythic monsters.

"I had a take on the film that, well, nobody liked,"

Mabey the bad things I have heard were not from weedon. But I have seen interviews with him about it and I am glad he is off the project. I can not remeber the exact quote but he said in a radio interview I heard that he has never in his life read a wonder woman comic and wasn't planning to so as to "not interfear with the creation process" Though he was a fan of the old TV show ... witch is NOTHING like the real charicter... so even if he had it his way it would be crap.

I am nto saying that it wouldn't be crap with out him.... presonly I think it should be shelved completly and then release the rights so WW can apear in a JLA tv show or on smallville

I think WW is extremely not interesting, myself. dunno why. maybe it's that ridiculous outfit (although I guess most comic book heroes have that issue).

meh. there are more interesting female comic book characters with less ridiculous names and backgrounds. but I was hoping to see whedon do something with her cuz I seem to like serenity</i> more and more every time. and, of course, I think buffy</i> the series was awesome.

now, I think I'm more interested in that will smith vampire comicy thing.

Very happy :) Firstly because I think the IP is crap and can only be good by making it not Wonder Woman, and secondly I think his ideas for this IP were crap too.
Maybe this will be a nudge to get Joss Whedon working on a franchise that doesn't involve either a "wonderwoman" or space pirates.

I'd like to see him handle something else and then he can go back to wonder-woman/pirates/space :) Or maybe he can make Xmen not shit again?

well I should warn you, it's a lot like Nick Fury: Agent of Shield with the Hoff. both produced and released as part of the same "plan"

Looks like Wonder Woman is back on the cards... cartoon style..... I am starting to really like these animated US cartoons... DC is leading the way in Jap style cartooning.... As in cartoons that are not made "directly" for children.... The DC films... like Batman and Doomsday are very true to the original comics.

About time other people besidesthe French and the Japs started making decent cartoons full of imagination and stuff... they are a lot behind France and even further behind the Japs.... but still each film from this DC team is getting better and better ... I think this one will be yet another step forward...

Can not wait

yeah i heard about this a while ago, it should be good and i agree the DCAU is pretty good, apparently after the wonder woman movie they are planning an animated green lantern movie, with hal jordan as GL, though if the live action one gets the go ahead (probably wont) then it may be pulled, although saying that doomsday and gotham knights movies got released alongside live action counterparts
