Body Snatchers - how many remakes and which do you recommend

Just watched "The Invasion" (2007 version with Nicole Kidman). Didn't think it was too bad, although not particularly good either, and the ending was dreadful.

I fancy watching one of the earlier versions, but I'm not really into 1950s B&W movies. Is the 1978 or the 1993 remake the one to watch?

'78 one with Donald Sutherland, Veronica Cartwright, Leonard Nimoy, Jeff Goldblum.. is my fav and I dare say most agree ;)

there is a half-assed colorized version of the first one as well.

awesome book if you can find it.
