station51 had a total hard disk failure, the whole domain was down and all sites hosted on it.

still seems a bit shakey atm, but anyway, incase of downtime, and if you have access, this is always a nice thread to see where your favourite sites are:
http://www.fileheaven.org/forum/viewtop ... &start=320

Admins/mods/users of various sites normally post about up/down/left/right time there.

generally when these things happen they are nothing to do with me, if you get an error actually using the site, say it doesn't do something its supposed to... then its something I can normally sort out :)

yes, I did that on purpose a few days ago. If you really care about such things:
profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=14

It's simply removed from the template as I think the thing is over emphasised and they promoting some posting styles I don't think were necessary.

Yeah, it's not really needed, just like the # of times a post gets edited. I know I occasionally misspell & like to correct it, but hate seeing the 'edited 3 times'.

Great to be back but it is still a bit ropey the 'cannot display page' regularly appears but just needs refreshing.

@merc, yeah I know this post has been edited is annoying, I do a lot of after editing, but it does ensure integrity... I suspect some users when in a conversation won't stick to their guns as it were and then edit their posts to reflect somethign totally different.

I think, although annoying, the edited by is quite essential. Post count on the other hand is quite retarded and extremely misleading in so far that there's a totally daft association that some one with a lot of posts is somehow better than someone without, or has 'done more' or something totally unconnected :)

As said post counts are still there, it simply isn't presented on every post as if its some kind of 'elite status' :)

i usually edit my posts when i see i fudged up on my spelling  ...damn typo's make you look stoopid :wacky:

i'm not bothered about having my post count seen...i agree what spud says about the high post count though,it may make the user think he/she has l33t status above any other user on the site....just because someone has only posted a dozen times makes them no less a member of the community or any less valuable to the community than someone that has posted a thousand + times......better off all looking equal with similar looking stupid names than post counts that just shows you waffle on a load of bollocks about nothing :D
I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

I think a compromise maybe in order, just show rank images so you can distinguish between people who are first time posters and some one whos been here a while :)

Anyway, I'm getting a headache but it seems to be stable now.
